Try Yoga Nidra!

Yoga Nidra is a practice that brings us into a complete mental, physical and emotional relaxation state, while remaining aware and awake.  It is a structured practice that is guided and progresses through a series of stages to relax first the body and then the mind and heart.  It is a practice that brings us rest without sleep. There are said to be many benefits to practicing Yoga Nidra including promoting better sleep, reducing stress and anxiety, pain management, improved concentration, and manifesting your purpose and intention. 

During the practice you will be asked to bring into your consciousness a Sankalpa or an intention.  This is an intention that is true for you in this moment of your life, something you are actively working towards and is alive in your heart in this moment.  It should be stated in the present tense and need not be complicated.  Some examples are: 

My body is relaxed. 

I am patient and kind. 

I am calm, curious and compassionate.  

My mind is present and aware.

 Your sankalpa can be anything that is meaningful for you. You may prepare it prior to the practice, or it may come to you spontaneously at the moment in the practice when you are guided to recall it.
